Agree 100%. The Verge has been way too heavy of a website from the start. No one on the web design team there seems to know what restraint is. I used to test out mobile phone performance using their website because it's so busy it would make most phones bog down.

Gonna disagree on this one. I think we’re all so used to homogenous editorial design that’s more or less interchangeable from one site to another that something with a bit of personality seems like an affront.
