Thank you for mentioning how gen AI translation is fucking dangerous. I work in product packaging. I can't go into details but I've had to turn away a couple translations already because I was like "nope this will get us a lawsuit at best and someone killed at worst" for "how to use" sections.

And thank YOU for actually turning down this shit! I'm on the other side (translator), and there's so much malpractice going on with machine translation, especially in larger agencies, that the only way this might stop some day is if customers refuse to buy the slop and demand better quality.

also there was a "funny" example of an article on a major gardening brand's website a while back that had obviously used Gen AI to translate it to french, where stuff like "bury the baby shoots" had become "bury the shot babies" in french. Also terms like "gun squash" appeared.

You guys touched on AI in k12 education briefly but this is a topic that needs more scrutiny. All these companies need training data. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have access to a huge age, race & socio-economic data set? K12 districts are having AI shoved down their throats. I have thoughts..lots!
