These maps always hide nuance, but the numbers don't lie. Over 6M Californians voted for Trump (over 9M for Harris). Yes, obviously the Democrats win state-wide races, but California (like all US states, probably) is way more purple than it is portrayed.
The map is deceiving. Dirt doesn’t vote. There are more people in L.A. county alone than the entire middle of the country combined. (Dirt doesn’t vote there either, but I digress…)
The vast majority of the population is on the coast. The rest of the state is sparsely populated comparatively speaking

Because Napa and Sonoma are really “farmland”, along with a lot of the red in this country. Unfortunately they wanted simpler times but instead are getting a messy, messy America.
From what I can tell, Sonoma actually appears to be the bluest county in California, and Napa is not far behind (that's why I was explicitly excluding them).
It's the inland wine growing regions that appear to be California Trump country (he got over 6M votes in the state, it's not a small number).
Outside of Amador and Lodi, most inland California wine is underwhelming anyway. I live here, and the climate is too warm to make wine of any good quality. The summers are too hot and the fruit gets too ripe to maintain acidity or character. It’s only useful for bulk wine like Gallo.
The good wine almost all comes from coastal counties that vote Democratic. But that doesn’t account for which winery owners support the Tangerine Zitblister. The people living in the Sonoma, Russian River, Napa, and Paso Robles wine areas don’t always vote the same way as the industry’s investors.
The Californians that voted for Trump are fucking idiots, like Trump. They have everything to lose, like their labor force and export markets. The map you need is the one that shows the population density of these idiotic areas. SoCal = dense – the rest, rural, not densely populated.
Here's one that's a little more helpful. Our central valley is like a little Idaho. If there's a KKK or Neo-Nazi summer camp, look there. Oroville used to be that place 30 years ago.
Super important! People talk about targeting red states but the divide is not red vs blue state it’s rural vs urban. Plenty of Trump signs in rural New England.
Very true, anyone who thinks NY state is solid blue, has never been outside the NYC metro area or Buffalo/Rochester area. They still had a chapter of the Klan in Binghamton when I lived in Upstate 25 years ago. Most of my family in Central NY are MAGA and voted for Elise Stafanik.
Even in a blue county, the normal people can vote Democratic but the investor class will still vote Republican. The Silicon Valley is the perfect example of that; Peter Thiel, Zuckerberg, Vance, and Musk are all-in on making Curtis Yarvin the father of the new US regime.
Yet still, statewide over 6M Californians voted for Trump (vs. 9M for Harris). Cities might have more people, but some of those people also vote for MAGA.
Only the handful of MAGAts in the dying lumber-towns of northeast California - and those people are busy trying to separate their counties from the state and get themselves anshluss-ed into The Holy Aryan Dominion of Gross-Reich Idaho...
If they could sell only Californian wines, What do you think would be the result of that? I wonder, Do you think it'll would make red states to think it twice before voting red again?
Oh, well. I was thinking in the families of the workers of those companies, you know. 🤔
But if what you say is true, then it's even more complicated. I supposed by "farmers" you mean the owners, Right?
I just spent 25 years in the wine country of California. I used to insure wine makers. There are more small mom and pop wineries out here than big corporate ones. But we did hate the corporate ones.
Donald Trump said “The red states are going to do good, and the blue states I don’t know maybe they’ll totally disappear off that map” … what kind of President says that?!
France, Italy, Chile, Portugal, Argentina, BC & Ontario, South Africa, Australia etc. are all available at LCBO…think we will do fine without wines from California.
I am in BC saving my money for Canadian farmers & wineries. Thanks to the US gov we are looking at a recession. I feel like I need to spend my money here whenever I can. I'm sad for blue states but all of America needs to feel the effect of Canadians pushing back.

Most MAGAts have bruised soft brain tissue in one way or another.
I just made that up...
I’m so sorry that California wine was included. We know you don’t stand with the clown.
I will benefit from the free world being free and maintaining that freedom overall.
Looking to better days.

Hard to see the distributions in electoral maps that don't account for population density.

They will stay red, regardless.
Boycott it all. Don't drink a drop.
