Attacking DEI is racism. Period. It’s also sexism. Ableism. And a lot of other things. But mainly, at its heart, it’s white supremacist racist code. The attacks should never ever be presented as anything else.

Thank you for including ableism. Too many people are looking past that and I fear those with disabilities are the most vulnerable due to the lack of attention and visibility. Racism and sexism aren't less important. It's just that ableism is just as important.
Sadly, they are not even using code anymore. His press secretary straight up said she doesn’t want brown people flying planes because she wants it to be safe. We are way past code words.
Because of preconceived biases, it actually works w/ 10s of millions of Americans. This became clear when, on that other platform, Ketanji Brown Jackson was endlessly referred to as "a DEI nominee" notwithstanding that she has a combination of credentials *no* other sitting Supreme Ct Justice has.
If you have 270M adults from whom to select optimum people for certain roles, whereas I - bc I eliminated 50% (females), then 30% (non-whites) - have 95M from whom to make my selection, you're just getting better people.
Diversifying the pool = expanding the pool = net good.
1) Respectfully disagree. As a proud liberal Democrat, I believe the $8 billion DEI industry has been a corrupt and illiberal response to our very real problems of systemic racism and other forms of discrimination. Policies like compelled DEI statements at universities and race-based hiring—
2) quotas contradict core American values and have caused an inevitable backlash among millions of Americans who aren’t even white. And calling everyone who disagrees with a policy a “white supremacist” has contributed to the perception that the left has fallen prey to its own form of—
3) totalitarianism. “Liberal” also means the freedom to disagree. Defending DEI by calling those who disagree “racist” is a huge mistake, philosophically and politically. DEI has failed, spectacularly. It’s time to find better solutions to the underlying problems it was attempting to address.
This is nothing more than a strategy to “Make America Great Again”- going back to a time when the only people controlling everything were white men. And at least a third of this country believes it’s the right thing to do. We are well and truly fucked.
Play chess. What are the worst possible things he can do next? That's where he's headed. What are his goals? Looks like to cut away guardrails so he and his powerbrokers can assume as much control as they can.
Tragedies are good for diversion.
The coup attempt was successful but more 2 achieve.
And seeing DEI clearly as an additional layer of constraints requiring additional hours of admin, additional budget, additional human resources between governments' intent to get their jobs done and the doing of them, what's that?
Absolutely right, David. Opposing DEI is supporting racism. After years of effort infusing inclusion into their brand, Target has undone all of it with its anti-DEI announcement, and rightfully so.
After years of courage on this issue, Target abandoned its longstanding commitment to non-descrimination and fairness in the workplace, taking the brand from courageous to cowardly overnight. And the timing certainly points to a conscious expression of shareholder fealty to the Trump administration.
Rightfully usually means correctly, so I thought you were approving their abandonment of dei principles.
The mongols are coming and our leaders and merchants are selling out the villagers.

Honestly asking, to prevent misinterpretation
The mongols are coming and our leaders and merchants are selling out the villagers.
And at what point will the villagers have so little to lose that the pitchforks and torches come out?
