This is neither a story, nor a reason to resign.
It's a minor victory for a rabid right-wing press and unfortunately a loss of a brilliant minister.
Shame. She can do a job off the front bench.
I hope she continues to be effective. Such a shame.
Of course it's a journalistic story in the event. You are doing your job.
I just think the reason that Sky have initially bought it to light is to create a furore over nothing. The crime was declared and dismissed in court.
Unless, there is something else to come to light, that is going on?
No doubt this will be a top story all day pushed by many, from what 11 years ago. Lest we forget we've had a current MP who physically abused a woman, we've had MPs committing sexual crimes as actual MPs. So hopefully, after an hour, we get back to stuff like the assisted dying bill.
She made a mistake and admitted it. Even the magistrate accepted it was an honest mistake. It doesn’t seem a resigning matter to me. The media loves its scalps.
I think she has gone to stop the media circus distracting from government’s agenda- which is honourable but depressing. I wish the media would focus on real issues facing U.K.
Yes it is news, but it’s made by the media too. They could have reported it in a more accurate and nuanced way but they want dramatic headlines which are ultimately misleading.
I don’t disagree, but listening to HZ on Today just now, he explained it well? I’ve not seen anymore of the reporting yet tbf. And I do think Lou H shouldn’t have felt the need to resign. She’s talented, she’ll be back.

Too good to leave in the wilderness for long
