I actually contemplated using "codswallop" just a few days ago and was moved to look it up in the OED, and you'll likely be surprised to know that the earliest citation they have for it is from 1963. That's the printed OED: see also https://www.oed.com/discover/a-load-of-old-codswallop/
It's surprisingly recent.
