I still like the (dark) joke that Trump played Risk once and believes he needs to control Greenland, Panama, and Alaska to hold checkpoints and safeguard US national security.

Funny perhaps for other Americans in charge of "global security," but there is no way Trump had the patience for a game with rules even as simple as *Risk*, and especially not the patience required to win.

I'm fairly sure the projection argument was catapulted into public/internet consciousness by a *West Wing* episode. I've given a talk about empire and cartography, which like Danforth's, downplayed the "imperialist designs" of Mercator's, but received conspiracist pushback from an audience member.
