I work every day on Gemini's "Reasoning" model, doing personal benchmarks & feedback, and it needs a LOT of guidance and cannot output a multitude of coherent responses, but good grace it's POWERFUL with the correct prompts & data!

I wouldn't use it in court, or in professional publishing at all...

I agree BUT, they are coming for all our jobs. Refusing to engage the enemy is surrender. Understanding them is key to developing a clear path to resistance. Chatbots are just the toys of AI. I recently read the Coming Wave and recommend it to anyone threatened by AI and that is everyone.

Any journalist writing about AI cannot usefully do so without extensive, active, and ongoing engagement with at least publicly available AI thingies. To write about it, understand it, mitigate effects, and even use it appropriately, requires engagement. Not a plug for or against AI.

I mainly use them to locate technical information. Search engines are useless and waste of time for this type of information. They mostly result in someone trying to sell you something similar.

I indicated why. When searching technical information, they return more results pushing alternate products.

I find that AI searches the engines for me and returns more targeted result(s).

Yes I use quotes and other search syntax properly. Just my own preference.
