Our ATC system was stretched very thin before this - the number of near misses and issues was already high. With everything going on, the system could break more easily than we want to consider.

I think ATC has already been operating at 105% for some time, and it cannot help that every one of those employees now has no certainty about the future beyond the next shift.

I can’t say, without looking at the data. Taxiing is the highest-threat operation we do, even though the consequences are seldom severe. You can’t see your wings, there’s a lot of moving parts, and things like unfamiliar taxi lines can lead you into conflict.

These ground collisions do happen. Whether it’s increased due to ATC staffing, more operations, or hasn’t at all can only be determined by looking at the trend.
