Real simple one is talk to your cool neighbor and agree to call each other if you see cops on the block. Then you can go out and watch the cops do cop stuff. Cops hate that and sometimes it makes them behave. it's a small way to start and you can build on it.

call their reps and yell at them. prepare to protest. reach out to friends and neighbors and strengthen social bonds. gather some basic supplies just in case. make a plan for resisting ICE raids and attacks on trans people (among other vulnerable people).

Agreed. People need to understand the gravity of what's happening, and also that there ARE things they can do about it. That second part is critical to stop people from doing unwise things, speaking from experience. Get plugged into the community, do anything- it feels better than doing nothing.

As with the pandemic, I’m happy to argue against the “don’t cause a panic” people that sometimes fear is justified and helps motivate appropriate actions! If there is a fire in a theater, you shouldn’t NOT yell about it just because it might scare the crowd, you know?
