In the US the concept of a "war on Christmas" came from fash. The "war" is simply people not celebrating the way they want. They are obsessed with Christmas because it is one of the last Christian traditions large parts of secular society still embrace.

TBG is a broad group of far right organisers. Attendees included representatives from Patriotic Alternative, Homeland Party, Britain First, UKIP and people formerly associated with the now proscribed terrorist organisation National Action. Many of them are wealthy backers of far right street groups.

In shutting down events like this, militant antifascists do more than merely "counterprotesting" - this is a huge blow to their ability to network and organise, and the fact that the venue was supposed to be kept a secret means that they will all now be asking how the information got out.

Back in my day, we used to have two methods of finding out what our local NF were planning: a friendly post office worker got us a pass to their PO Box, and we'd go through their bins. They were so convinced they had a spy in their midst they'd regularly kick the shit out of a random member.

I remember when the NF got massively paranoid that we knew about their march in advance and turned on themselves. Enough time has now passed that I can say it was simply that they'd told plod they were marching, plod warned local businesses and the local Oxfam told us with a "this wasn't from us".

It's hilarious cos there was already tension between Homeland and PA since the split, the keynote speaker is a major Homeland guy, and this is like three times now that PA have been involved in things where antifascists got the drop on them, so they totally compromised as best or snitches at worst.
