I think people who love you in any meaningful way wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable. If they can't even not spew ugly politics at you that make you feel shitty that's on them, not you. Still hard tho

There are three first generation immigrants in my immediate family. Not that it should take that to care, but I can’t fathom the brain that both loves an immigrant and goes out and votes for a man who says immigrants are poisoning the blood of our nation. “Oh you know, they’re one of the good ones.”

I am still pretty isolated as I figure out what life is going to look like for me in the wake of all this. I’m going to start reaching out to people soon, and it would be nice if my family were safe to reach out to. They’re not. Another day missing my dad who would have had zero tolerance for this.

I threatened my dad in writing that if Trump won and he voted for him, we were done done. As in he may as well mourn me as dead. He notified me weeks after receiving the letter that he would not vote at all; mom confirms he did not vote. It was a huge weight off.
