trying to explain congestion pricing to Donald Trump: imagine if there was a tariff on cars entering Lower Manhattan

Sometimes I think about the all-but-forgotten 2019 Russell T Davies miniseries “Years and Years”, then I gaze out the window into the middle distance

Stephen Miller is an enemy of the people

A strong case could be made for the notion that the world’s largest stable democracy is now Japan.

We are like six months from them outlawing seatbelts.

SCOOP— FEMA essential functions are at "high risk" of not functioning properly just days before hurricane season because of staffing shortages, per a recent internal memo obtained by The Handbasket. These deficiencies "may disrupt life-saving and life-sustaining program delivery." Full story here:

BREAKING: Scott Pelley just risked everything to make one thing clear: The attack on free speech isn’t coming—it’s already here. Journalists are being silenced, critics are being punished, and most of the media’s playing dead. This is state-sponsored suppression. This is dictatorship in real time.

Every year on Memorial Day, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring. They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died. France also gave us this land as American soil.

On this day I remember my grandfathers, both of whom fought fascism during World War II. One died in 1962, before I was born; the other, in 1999. If they were still around, I doubt they’d have anything good to say about the illegitimate, degenerate Washington régime.

Reposting because reasons

The more people who are denied care and left to die, the more profitable it is for health insurance companies. Your reminder that for-profit healthcare isn't healthcare. It's an exploitation of sick people and transfer of wealth from the working class to the mega-rich.
