You know, a factor contributing to 10/7 was that Gaza has been an open-air prison for many years, and now Israel and the US are Gazafying an entire region of the world, so I’m sure we’re going to see some pretty horrific acts of terrorism in the very near future. Rashid Khalidi's framing of the 100-years war on Palestine has been really helpful for me. 10/7 was a milestone in a long post-Ottoman political struggle between Zionists and Palestinians, with lots of other states, empires, and entities putting hands in.

I honestly hoped Never Again was a moral prescription not a soap marketing slogan. Watching people cheer 100,000s dying and millions displaced in the Middle East while also supporting Ukraine against Russia is so deeply depressing I don’t know what to do about it.

It literally was not and efforts to reclaim it to be inclusive are a liberal Jewish movement against the kahanists going back many years. It was modernly popularized in a 1972 Meir Kahane book and he rather obviously meant it strictly narrowly.
