Trump with the economy

Every billionaire is a policy failure.

There are no perfect analogies. But one comparison with the U.S. throwing away NATO and its dominant global economic trading position is the Ming Dynasty's decision to end the Treasure Voyages right before the European age of exploration. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ming_tr... @ryanlcooper.com

seems bad when even the president of le pen’s party is like “whoa too much nazi”

Temperament, not ideology is how I'd shorthand this. This moment calls for a radical and loud defense of the American small-l liberal creed against a fundamentally illiberal force we've never seen possess so much political power before.

It was honestly a lot healthier when you had Arnold running around in the big action movies because there was no realistic expectation that Arnold would become what normal people should look like. But you get Chris Pratt down to 6% bf for a shirtless scene and people get the wrong idea

Dems should start spending their money on alt media (which then makes money itself) instead of sending scamy texts to get money to spend on expensive ads no one sees

Report: CANADA! CANADA! CANADA! CANADA! CANADA! CANADA!

Go Canada!

I think that the correct way to make sense of where we are in American history is to imagine we're back in 1955, the former Confederacy now includes the vast majority of the Midwest and Mountain West, and the Dixiecrats run the whole of the federal government.

We should be exceptionally grateful that Finland and Sweden joined Nato. They, together with the French, are pretty much the only 3 in Europe who still have the experience of running a large military force independent of the Americans. And that is what we need now more than anything.

Okay, so I’m finally putting a thread together: what is the deep-blue Delaware legislature proposing to do and why is it the most evil thing not directly involving Donald Trump happening in America today? legis.delaware.gov/BillDetail/1...

1000000000% this. Liberal & social democracy both need a strong civil society that's bought into them. That's not even a bug, because all it really means is that democracy requires a population that a) values democracy, and b) is organized & politically engaged beyond what the state itself provides

guess why they frame one of the most corrupt scandals in United States government history as "another win for President Trump"

This will especially hurt rural folks

No woke, go broke!

Good news is that Democrats are going to make a fight out of this, bad news is that entire GOP has organically internalized a view of presidential power that is incompatible with a democratic republic.

Sometimes I wonder if adults suffering stranger danger is just unresolved hunter gatherer brain. Or maybe something else.

It is moderately stupid that the person third in line for the presidency has job requirement of "oldest MFer in the Senate"

“150,000 extra farms” we yearn for Pol Pot to take us all back to the fields to die

Did you know that (according to the 1431 trial record) Joan of Arc was not initially sentence to death as long as she did not relapse (return to wearing men's clothing)? It was only when she did that she was deemed a heretic and burned. Patron saint of "Death Before Detransition" 1/11

If the EU decouples from the US on foreign policy to a significant extent we should actively forge closer ties to South America. Probably unrealistic to ever expect Lula to arm Ukraine, but long term there’d be benefits to SA leaders viewing Europe and the US separately rather than one NATO blob.

I hope nobody deludes themselves that the "common economic interests" Rubio mentioned in the context of the emerging US-russia partnership mean anything else besides dirty campaign finance, russian olligarchic penetration of America, and massive corruption.

more like the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact

Vance and others close to him are setting up the intellectual basis for American withdrawal from and hostile rivalry towards the EU based on the claim that a democratic Europe has betrayed an authoritarian vision that Vance presents as the epitome of "Western" civilisation.

Pretty stupid of Bill Clinton and Congress to pass a line item veto act to cut appropriations from parts of bills as part of his innate veto power when he could just have some random guy cut funding decades after a law was passed supreme.justia.com/cases/federa...

the extent to which elon musk has simply bought dictatorial control of the united states government is incredible

There's a top arrow for a reason...

In a very genuine way we need to salute dudes like this who are just big guys in baseball caps who say things like “I’m a Christian so I think we should care about everybody”
