It's different coming from another person, often say a stranger, than compared to yourself or a close family member when you're all on the same page and been dealing with it up close and personal. Hell, even if it's from a family member or close friend it still stings, and there's a time and place!

I've come to realize "what did you expect?" is a scream of frustration, helplessness and anger, from someone who also knew what was coming and is usually trying to commiserate. It can be tiresome to hear, but I can't disagree with the sentiment.
