I love King Diamond. I remember not taking the band seriously the very first time I heard of them (compilation album - Dressed in White) but then I found Mercyful Fate's Melissa and it just grew from there inside me like black mold in a haunted tomb.

Same here! I actually didn't really like King's vocals back when I first heard them, and only really liked the guitar in A Mansion in Darkness. idk what it was, but he really clicked for me after I Saw him in Montreal in November last year.

You're in for a treat then. I love classic King, but my favorite post-Eye of The Witch, has go to be House of God, with its cosmic horror themed story.

I have other recommendations for bands in that same King/Mercyful Fate style so just shout when you're ready for more.

ah, I've heard all of it already and love it, don't worry! House of God is great. I love The Graveyard's plot as well. The Puppet Master continues to be my post-EOTW favourite.

Oh totally! i find the weakest plot wise is the most recent one, but the rest are solid. The only ones as a whole that aren't actually a concept album (maybe only partially) are Fatal Portrait and The Spider's Lullabye. The rest of the albums in full are concept albums basically with different plots

For example, Abigail (1987) has an album that continues the plot, which is Abigail II - The Revenge (2002). The sequel to 1988's Them is Conspiracy, which came out a year later. The rest exist on their own in terms of plot, but I did notice some similarities between The Puppet Master + GMYSP (2007)
