Israel has been the homeland of the Jewish people for the last 4,000 years; the modern country was approved by the UN in 1948. SA was occupied by the Dutch in 1652. Learn some factual history. The calendar proves you wrong.
I'm not exactly trying to defend Israel but is it fair to judge a nation based on what it did so many years ago? I'm Ghanaian and should I hate Britain because they colonized us? Or Portugal and the Dutch and anybody else who took gold from us?
The war? That's on all of us. We step on anything that poses some danger to us. We try to tame it. I think true evil is hurting what's already weak and poses no danger. If that's what they're doing now, then I think we can judge them then.
the fuck you mean "That's on all of us"? I don't go around committing war crimes and bragging about them. this is just some bullshit trying to diffuse responsibility and absolve Israel of its own actions.
Oh I see. Well that's very bad then. But they were attacked first or? There's no justification for bombing schools and hospitals, but didn't hamas attack first? Or I'm wrong?
I mean, here in the US I'm part of the colonizers rather than the colonized, but yeah if I lived in Ghana I'd hate the fuck out of the British, Portugese, and Dutch.
Did they ever apologise for their actions? Did they atone for the evil they participated in?
Did they learn from their cruelty and STOP or are they still continuing?
Such are important questions B4 your question.
You're actually right. But we can't blame them for our woes. What they did to us, our leaders are doing to us. I don't know where you are, in Ghana, leaders' corruption is stealing more than the Brits ever took from us. The Brits took gold, but currently our leaders have taken entire water bodies.
The model of power claiming the right to act with absolute authority is the problem and there are many iterations of it. They are all a problem. We don't have to just pick one.
It's important to know history and understand how we got where we are. Criticizing governments is not "hate". In fact it is vitally important. Our solidarity must be with each other and there is no need to defend any government.
In my The invention of Africa class last term we had some sessions on this connected issues. Students was very happy to learn about these connections. It helps strengthening their resistance on mainstream hegemonic BS

But I hate The Brits.
*Every* day is "oh, they bombed *another* school", "more paramedics slaughtered"...
Israel's military is carpet bombing civilians and refugees. It's genocide. It's an abomination.
No ifs here.
That's how the gaslighting and framing works.
Also, keep in mind that Gaza has been an occupied territory for decades.
Thought experiment - if Palestine was instead Crimea... at what point do the Ukrainians cease being the defenders?
Did they learn from their cruelty and STOP or are they still continuing?

This shit is centuries old.
English, Europeans, raped the world.
