This is totally true in my neighborhood in East Oakland - several food stalls nearby started staying open til 11 pm to accommodate night workers returning home and it has felt so much nicer (and safer) to walk around because there are people out just eating and having a nice time - ThreadSky

More than anything the American culture of isolation: i can/it is more noble to do it myself is what's led us down the shitty path we're on now. That and "fuck you got mine" which is likely a symptom of that too

Yes, and also it's not like these stands are opening/staying open late for altruistic reasons, it's because they found a market there. It's totally possible to serve personal and public goals at the same time

We're getting a new mixed-use development next door, and I'm hoping we can get some stalls or something that stay open late. In the summer, as hot as Dublin gets, it would be so nice to take a late stroll and nosh on things -- and see people out enjoying themselves!

The late night spots have been significantly popping up in the last year out here in Concord. We are a town that straddles the border of 'someone is going to complain'/'no one gives a shit' over these things. We'll see what happens!

yeah, we're firmly in the "no one cares" zone - a few complainers have tried their luck in the neighborhood but nobody cares about their complaints lol
