It's not a Google problem per se- all these very expensive appliances and HVAC that needs be programmed via cloud will face the same outcome

I cannot envision ever adding that maintenance or expense to our household.

Last time we bought a washing machine they were hyping the app. My husband told them they misjudged who they were talking to. Lol

Consumer IoT is just not worth it. SONOS was brilliant until they bricked my perfectly working speakers. This is just the same.

I immediately thought of SONOS too. It's one thing to say "you'll get no new updates", quite another to say, effectively, we're taking the device you bought away, which is what Sonos tried first time round before they just made them obsolete by making them unusable.

They used to be best kit on the market. Now if the volume control works within 10 seconds of use I think I got lucky.
