I actually kind of hope after the film, that that's it. Bluey teaches lots of life lessons. One of the most important to teach kids (and, it seems, many adults) is that nothing lasts forever, all things end, and that's ok.

My understanding, btw, is that Brumm right now has the power to pull a Bill Waterston, at least regarding the show itself, and ensure that nobody makes additional seasons without his involvement. So I have either misunderstood, or he's okay with distinguishing his Bluey from what others do with it.

I'm sad there's no more Calvin and Hobbes, but it's from the mind of the creator. I read every "Judge Dredd", and some people seriously get the character eccentrically wrong. Kudos to Brumm if he is pulling the plug, rather than letting it become simply generic and fizzle away.

He's always a bit vague in communicating what's what. I would take this to mean that he isn't involved with the (terrible) minisodes currently being released.

I hope it just ends. It was special at a time we really needed it, and I just so happened to have kids at just the right age for it. It is a classic that will stand the test of time. It's ok for good things to come to an end.

I can imagine that it would feel very selfish to just pull the plug on something that is both so beloved and is the product of a collaborative effort. Watterson was the only one making C & H, but there are many people that have earned some level of artistic control of Bluey.

I had the same thought. I hope he pulls it, other people may be able to capture the tone, but not his voice. Like what happened with the Goldbergs where every one just shouted and were mean to each other for the last few years. Or maybe he has a staff that can do both. What do I know?

I guess it's a sad fact of our IP dominated content landscape that things rarely end when a creator is finished with it. I'm excited for the movie with his involvement, but future episodes without his touch make me feel uneasy.

I agree, but I wonder without him will it have as much heart and soul? Because it was that genuineness that made the show so amazing. It seems ripe to be Disney-fied to meet marketing algorithms or whatever.

I know on some level that when you create something and share it with the world, that it no longer belongs to just you anymore.

But it still breaks my heart a little when an artist isn't allowed to wrap up that creation on their own terms.

There’s a lot to be excited about with the idea of a Bluey movie after how great The Sign was.

There’s plenty of examples of people leaving shows that end up bad or ok or good. It’s not an instant death sentence and we will always have three amazing seasons regardless.
