I am loving this show. It’s serious about it’s content, without being a soapy drama or over the top story lines. There’s a respect for the setting and the patient situations.
Agree - she’s a great character and the actress is fantastic. (We live in Pittsburgh - love the show and it’s fun to watch out for the local references. But the head nurse has more of a Philly accent!)
Also? 1. I have a big interview with the The Pitt producers (including Noah Wyle) coming out later this week. 2. This week’s episode (number 8) is a LOT, in a great way. 3. The 12th ep, which I just watched a screener of, is spectacular.
I’m utterly obsessed. I don’t know I’ll feel when it ends. Feels fresh but also deeply familiar and comforting. I actually really like the hour by hour format. Love Mel too.
Argh…I haven’t had time to watch the latest ep, but I chatted with Taylor today about Mel and now I must protect both Dearden and her character with my life
I just watched episode 8. Wow! I'm decompressing now. They slowed the pace and increased the impact. I'm glad I have a week to recover before the next episode.
Please ask them to consider having at least ONE staff member wear a respirator next season, especially since the real world looks to be headed into a second pandemic, and Covid (the old pandemic) killed 900+ people in a week? 1/
And yes, I HAVE watched enough of the show to know that Wyle's character is traumatized by the Covid-related death of his mentor in early days. But now is terrible too, with the administration censoring health info and getting rid of health advisory committees on Long Covid and health equity. 2/
And you may feel that these aren't the questions you should be asking the producing team. But in a show that seeks to educate--as medical shows often do--it IS germane, just as it was when HIV was a death sentence, and gay people were pariahs. Medical shows ARE classrooms, especially now. 3/3
The Pitt inspired me to go back and watch ER, which originally launched the year I went off to college so I never saw a single episode. Wyle is about 5 years older than I am but he's the glue that keeps me watching. I'm on season 8 now.

And I just saw her other credits. She helped to bomb NASA to the ground, killing off both Karen Baldwin and Molly Cobb.
