Anything that can change in days can be changed back in days. Never say never. I have substantial doubt that anyone is going to want anything but a full “reset” back to normal once these lunatics are gone. Especially with economic crashes ahead.

I think we need to demand much more progressive adjustments when we win this. A new Constitution with fundamental human rights baked in at the foundation with no allowance for removal of human rights with the amendment process.

It took NASA 10 years to *start* to write and implement a data policy that conformed to existing law. In 2013, President Obama started the Open Government Initiative. NASA was just getting into the good meaty part of implementing this. More than 10 years after the President said to do it.

When President Obama issued Executive Order 13583, in 2011, NASA started paying more attention to "Diversity and Inclusion." In 2016, the ODEO published a report that discussed this Executive Order and their Special Emphasis Program to start making improvements to Inclusion.

When NASA was asked, by the community, to consider a longer-term vision, it took a couple of years to organize the Planetary Science Vision 2050 Workshop, held in 2017. This was ostensibly a missions/tech conf, but attracted a huge group of people who insisted that NASA also consider its workforce.

It wasn't until 2020 that NASA finally added "Inclusion" to its Core Values.

Ten years after the President signed an Executive Order telling agencies to spend some time making sure that the smartest and best might feel welcome, NASA finally said they thought Inclusion is a Core Value.

Today, two weeks after an illegal, inconsistent, mean, nasty EO was signed, NASA's leadership backtracked on all of that and removed Inclusion as one of its Core Values.

Two weeks.

What a load of cowardice.
