It's called "democracy." There is a free vote. Everyone gets to vote with their conscience (assuming they have one). Some members of the cabinet have concerns over the lack of proper safeguards in the Bill, and have listened to the fears expressed by disability orga and disabled people.

In principle, I agree with this legislation.

However, the current safety checks are inadequate and the possibility of future governments widening the scope of this policy in truly horrifying ways is very much real.

Political lightweights like Leadbeater are every bit as dangerous as autocrats.

Not sure why she would be. It’s a free vote, they should be allowed to express their view one way or another and explain why they would vote that way
