Why is this such an issue? Sure, more firefighters and funding = good. But shit burned down primarily because of climate and 90mph winds. Is beating this issue just to try and tear down Bass? Bass’ failings will pale in comparison to the impacts to everyday people from MAGA actions and budget cuts.

Well the mayor (and the one before her)—and council—has repeatedly juiced the police budget and cut everything else to do it. So climate isn’t being addressed nearly to the degree it should. Local politics affect us more directly and immediately than federal MAGA policies.

Counterpoint: the fires that require the firefighters you’re concerned about having are driven by climate change, which is caused through inaction at a national/global issue, not local. So is the narrative that cops need more money. So is the narrative that will result in mass deportations.
