The Arabic you hear on the news where it is spoken harshly and guteral from the terrorists in videos. Those are the hill billies and I didn't realize this until I heard a woman in Turkey speaking Farsi.
That’s true, I think there is a link in phonetics due to geography etc however. But I concur with ya on that fact as an English & Arabic [Lebanese] speaker myself.
Sorry that's on me. It was Farsi both times I was hearing it. I just shouldn't have called it Arabic. They do use a lot Arabic phrases as the language is through out the region too. I imagine it's like us using fiance or faux paw.
I work at a massive tourist bar in TX and they love it here. They have more Texas pride than Texans and that’s firstly, super weird, and secondly, saying a lot 🤣😬🫣
See I once described an Australian as like a British person from California and I think that’s more accurate. Coastal liberals who like the beach, and an inland desert with lots of right wing maniacs who hate taxes almost as much as they hate black people.
Speaking as an American- we have a lot of stupid people here. I mean, most of us appreciate the vote of faith but crayons are definitely non toxic for a reason. And I don’t mean toddlers, I mean I’m pretty sure we have citizens that ate them at six years old and had tie-dyed crap in their underoos.
We USAmericans have to deal with active shooter drills in our schools. Texas in 2023 had over 1800 homicides. Australia in 2023 was under 250 homicides. Australia 27M POP; Texas 31M POP.
One liked this, and then thought a bit more on it. Sure, both have the "go our own way" thing going on, but a significant difference is that Australians aren't Willfully Ignorant. Texas upholds being dumb as some kind of virtue, just to be contrary.
But - nobody beats Texas barbecue!
Depending on the popular mythology and political landscape this trope has definitely cycled through complementary -> inaccurate -> downright insulting for each of the three countries at various times
This however stands out as to why the comparison is simply wrong
Texas here. I’ve been to the land down under. I agree. But women are nicer 😈 stayed at a bed and breakfast and the owner lived upstairs and let’s just say the balcony asking if all is good when I looked up. Yes all was most definitely good. The curtains did not match the drapes.
Aussies are to thin skinned to be a good comparison. Their smugness is nauseating and their culture of alcohol seeps into everything so deeply that your an outcast if you don't drink. Oh...and their internet is as slow as their turtles
I'm an Australian and we are nothing like Texans.
Furthermore we don't go bankrupt when we're sick, gun deaths are extremely rare because we have stringent gun laws
and we don't vote in tyrants!!
Please don't forget about abortion rights too. Texas has willingly let 3 women die during childbirth very recently as a direct result of their reprehensible laws based in religion and ignorance. That state is becoming a hellscape for women.
Does no one know that the creator of this comic is NOT American? If I remember correctly, they're from Denmark (might be misremembering which Scandinavian country they're from). So their views presented are not American views.
It was a third penal colony but stopped on the 9th of January 1868. But again that doesn't make us all criminals mate. We ant taking away rights out the God dame window, we have rights to abortion and we have very strict gun laws how does that make us criminals in this day and age?
I used the word "were" as in historically. Texas or Tejas was populated originally by natives, Tejanos, Spaniards, cotton planters, slavers, slaves, and various "adventurers" that were less than welcome in the United States and got asked what they did to get sent to Texas.
True, but America colonised America because they believed that God gave them the right to invade but the British only colonised most of the including Australia by the Queen there's a huge difference mate.
America slaved people by choice while the rest of the world didn't have any say in it
If you put Texas, southern California, and Colorado in a blender, skimmed off the weed and added back any racism that boiled off, you would end up with Australia.
No, nonononono. We are not like Brits and nothing like Texans either. But given the choice I'll take being mistaken for a Brit. Fun fact, if Texas was an Australian state it would be the third smallest.
Jamaica, very good come back. I think the passport is from the 1960s - It is very strange that it said 'British Passport'. However a 1963 NZ passport also says 'British Passport' .
I did say third smallest not third largest. If you add Alaska to the mix the order from biggest to smallest would be
Western Australia, Alaska, Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia, New South Wales, Texas, Victoria, Tasmania.
Sydney alone is more populous than about 27 US States.
They’re more like local council areas. No wonder the people are often so anti-government. Absolutely insane imagining local councils being legislative bodies, let alone the inefficiency and complexity of so many disparate systems.
Every settler colony established by the British are culturally similar. You would not have much of an adjustment period if you moved to any number of British Commonwealth nations.
You definitely would. Same side of the road, customs are similar and the nomenclature & terms are alike. The USA…hell to the NO. As an American I would rather be in Ireland/England/Australia/New Zealand than the US starting after 1/20/25.
Depends on which state you live in Australia
Queensland/Northern Territory
Are more like Florida and Texas
New South Wales is more east coast of the USA.
Victoria is more European
South Australia is more like New Mexico. But it's on the water
Western Australia. Idk what happens over there
Comments
✅ Fatter
✅ Worse healthcare
✅ More obsessed with sport
✅ More livestock
Checks out.
But then what are NZ’ers?
How dare you think that Texas has any value?
Yes, we (Australians) have far fewer gun deaths, but it's essential you don't equate that with apathy/stupidity on the part of Americans.
They're victims of a corrupt system that's set up to resist change
Texas is cute though.
Greetings from the other side of the Tasman.
FACTS!!!!!
City aussies aren't like that at all...
But - nobody beats Texas barbecue!
This however stands out as to why the comparison is simply wrong
:D
Love,
A Texan
Texas/Floridian mix, with a bit of Appalachian thrown in for the Taswegians and a fair chunk of the North and you'd be on the money.
I think I'm being unfair on the Appalachians though.
We just don’t allow nutcases to own them.

Now I know why I wanna go to Australia
Unclear if Australia also had a rich crop economy which encouraged economic development which the inmate population handed vs the slaves in Texas.
As an Australian it is true but we are still nothing like Americans and we will never be
