Three different Trump DOJ attorneys put their names to this document. Can you imagine that? This is what happens when you hire incompetent people to positions of responsibility.
They either did not even look at it before they signed it, or only spot checked a couple things and then signed. Its an embarrassing level of incompetence that would not be tolerated in a team at any respectable law firm.
That means everything has been redacted except for page 5 thru 9 and because probationary workers are fired nobody knows how to create bookmark on MS Word
In normal times, maybe. But these days . . . with the number of misrepresentations-- or at least, the considerable amount of truth stretching --that DOJ has made to the courts the last month? Nah.
SO DUMB. Any capable attorney knows to pull the broken TOC out or better yet manually fixes it by deleting the error references and typing in the correct information, then sends it to be coded by a word processor as soon as possible. This is not rocket science.
Rehire your proofreader is right. This means they’ve been firing or not working with their administrative support. If an attorney has a good admin working on the team and gives that admin time to work, mistakes like those almost never get filed. (If filed, mistakes are always the lawyers’ fault.)
We used to sit and go over TOCs and tables and authorities with two people cross checking page references right before filings. The idea of this happening is crazy.
Now it is internally coded and that is what is resulting in those errors - the TOC has been coded to refer to the correct page, but they edited the doc and broke the link.
