My first publisher inherited the company from his dad and once told me to my face that he could easily write a book in a couple of days if he had to. This, despite the fact that I had read his emails and knew he wrote at a 3rd grade level. That's how someone who actually worked with writers thinks.

It'll never stop making me feel insane that writers are made to feel crazy for appropriately valuing their craft while guys who haven't written an email on their own in three years are painting themselves as essential to the future
