Any reason for needing to use the old MacBook specifically? I bought a USB-C DVD-RW drive for all of my present day disc needs.

Simply because I never bought one. Whenever I think about it, I think "but I have the Macbook", but those days are probably over.
Does yours burn discs as well?

Yep, burns and reads CDs and DVDs. Any external disc drive should be able to do it all. They're super cheap too, I can get one easily for sub-$30 US.

Cheers. We have some at work, I wonder if they burn as well.
Now wondering of modern day versions of the macOS Music app features "burn playlist to disc". I doubt it.

Possibly, haven't tried it, but Music does essentially inherit everything iTunes did so I'm sure it's in there somewhere. I typically use stuff like fre:ac, foobar2000 and Handbrake to get stuff on and off of any discs.

Update: yep, the Music app does indeed still burn discs. Exact same setup as in old iTunes.

Huh, didn't know Handbrake did anything with discs either. I just use it for video compression. Nice to know.
