I came onto Bluesky an hour ago, and the first two things I saw were posts providing useful context for understanding the imposition of martial law in South Korea—the exact kind of thing that Twitter used to be so useful for in a developing crisis.

Out of bloody-minded curiosity I went and looked at the other place. Ten full page scrolls before seeing a single tweet referring to South Korea, and that was a porridge-mild nothing-burger about “citizens helping National Assembly members get into the building.” Like Scouts helping the elderly. 😒

News is so much easier to find here.

I used to use Twitter for that, but opening that app became a mix of Elon posts, MAGA memes, and random right wing influencers.

BlueSky is much better for news, I can open the app and it’s already giving me the latest news.

I was startled to see knowledgable posts about the Aleppo attack within hours of the event. Most sites I visit do not have any poster who could tell Aleppo from a Hippo!
