If the incentive structures remain aligned against those things being prevalent, then they will remain a manageable problem. The thing that the Dipshit did to twitter is he changed all the structures so that spambots, content scrapers, and the worst people on Earth were all actively incentivized.

I mean, this is one reason why the moderation tools *are* so robust - so that users can handle most things themselves, and escalation to Team Bluesky will be necessary less. I believe there are just 20 or so of them at the moment; there's a hard limit to what they can take on.

Blocking is essential to new media literacy, and many still don’t know. Engagement is what spreads their fire. Figuring out which shared (block) lists to trust was a bit of a bump here.

The mute/block subscription lists are such a game changer in this respect - in theory as long as you subscribe to a few trusted lists that stay on top of poor-faith accounts, you will never encounter any of it. It’s not even reactionary - we have tools to preempt disruptive users.
