It’s wild how something that used to be a big deal—like the stress of a long-distance call racking up charges—has completely vanished from our collective experience. Now, we just FaceTime for free and complain about bad WiFi.

Maybe it being expensive was a good rationing mechanism?
Srsly, folks. Talk to us olds. Landlines never cost as much, even with long distance.
I did it again the next month, young love and all
$110-$130 monthly ATT long-distance.
MCI offered 4-5 cents a minute and my bills dropped to under $35/month.
I never ran so hard from ATT through my life in the states of PA, CA, TX, OH, NC, TN.
Predatory charging practices for phone calls.
Internet is another subject altogether.
My son called Sweden one time when he was younger and I asked him about the $50 charge. He didn’t deny it but I was not pleased.
That's why Trump wants Canada - we still have affordable eggs.
But scary. Just watched a movie where this lady's electronics were all being under surveillance .
Turned out it was hundreds of hackers watching and listening to hundreds of people
The main boss was getting blackmail videos and audio on all the people
We’d call each other “Collect” to lob easy insults.
“You have a Collect Call from (say your name) will you accept the call? Say yes or no.”
Turned Into:
“You have a call from ‘THE BROWNS SUCK!’ Will you accept the call?”
“F*** U!!”
If we load it onto a rocket with a Colecovision game controller—- 🤷♀️
Too much $
