Any clarification on the Tax Withholding portion? This would be a really cool way to pay for moderator subs but if it's taxed as income you might as well just cash out.

Yes. No reason it shouldn't still be taxable income. It's just spending on-site instead of paying out.

Unless it means it becomes taxable if you transfer it out of the Twitch environment. Technically, money that can *only* be spent on the "company store", so to speak, is not usually counted as income.

As much as I wish it was true, this is still real money, nothing proprietary.
Think of it as an office that withholds the cost of a new computer from your pay-cheque because you tossed the old one across the room. That money you'll never see is still taxed as income.

I'm a bit confused about not reaching the $50 payout, let's say you earn (after tax) $40 this month, does it mean it automatically becomes twitch balance (if opt in) and then the next month $10 it will still be available to withdraw? Or will it forever be Twitch balance?

It basically acts as a wallet.

You can choose to spend it on site, or you can leave it in the payout wallet. If you earn enough money to get over the $50 hump, it should payout as long as you haven't spent it.

I feel 50/50 on this. I like the idea that I could spend my stuck money on my account. HOWEVER! I don't want twitch to get a cut. Its already in their system, we don't need to pay a payment processor to pull it from a bank account when passing money from creator to creator.

PS: I also see my twitch balance as an savings account. If I see the balance at $10 and thats the min for the month. I know I'll see it in 5 months. I can wait for that. since its going to get used for emotes or other channel assets when I do get it.

Wait, no. You get the payouts when you reach the 50$ cap. But it it's less, you can convert it to bits / subs. But I hate it that you need to pay taxes and twitch grabs another half of it. Why not give it to the Streamer?
