If you have zero education, but learn how to ask AI models the right questions , in many jobs you will be able to outperform someone with an advanced degree, but who is unwilling to use Large Language Models.

Just takes a smartphone, curiosity to experiment and a mindset to learn.

And sadly, I think we are probably going to miss actually useful applications for the tech because companies have tried to prematurely capitalize on it in the mainstream. From a computer science perspective, they are very cool! But "cool" doesn't mean overturning centuries of liberal education.

Exactly! There probably ARE some very specific jobs where an expert who learned without using AI could use a model to make work faster or hit on ideas they wouldn't have otherwise (cut-up method style), but I just don't see this as a major force in most jobs.

One of the few applications I've learned about that makes sense is medical transcription for physicians. Supposedly there's some software accurate enough that doctors can use it to take notes and just focus on patient interactions. That's great! It's also not giving or taking anyone's job.

Agreed, though a lot of the ones I've seen aren't LLMs, they're a different branch of AI.

It doesn't even work for math or computer science-based jobs.

As others have pointed out, it probably is best at doing the job of a CEO. ChatGPT could probably be a shark on Shark Tank too.

It's great at writing emails for the types of people who need to write emails that are extremely succinct and consist primarily of bullet points (i.e, emails I don't read).
