No, no. I was on a Navy ship. (In the Navy for 6 years.) We only stopped there for a couple of nights to take on fuel. (I was on a refueling ship - USS Wabash [AOR-5].)
It was a BEAUTIFUL place.
And it made a Shellback out of me! (South of the equator.)

With respect, two different parts of the Indian Ocean. Diego Garcia is closer to Maldives and is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory. Heard and McDonald Islands are uninhabited, and are two-thirds the distance between Madagascar and Antarctica. Australian territory.
