I’m thinking that musk promise to rig the election again to make sure the republicans win in 26 so that’s why they are all ok with what’s going on. Shame on all the republicans
Can we please pronounce the acronym properly? Government starts with a hard “G” so it should be pronounced doggee 😜 Can you imagine the head explosions in congress if Senator Whitehouse said it that way during one of his many excellent oratories?? Over and over… “Musk’s doggee possey” 🤣
Yes! Where I live there are lots of federal employees. lawyers are going to have to switch fields into employment law to cover all this need. (Not an area of practice with abundant attorneys like personal injury or criminal defense).
Republican controlled. They are not going to step in to slow the shift to authoritarian rule. This should be telling given that some of the efforts directly impact states in very negative ways.
A good portion of Republican politicians DGAF about what happens to others. They follow a self-centered ideology. It is pretty resistant to learning the hard way.
You say 'fight back' with a particular tactic in mind. The reality is that Americans are pushing back is a wide spectrum of ways big and small. Just because they are not 'fighting' the way you like doesn't mean it isn't happening.
Since maniac Musk has pardon protection against criminal prosecution, hope all the massive lawsuits, cost him billions. Tesla swatiscars need to tank everywhere the world.
Republicans have a different agenda. They don't want to disturb the shift to authoritarian rule. What they don't realize is that this is going to impact them as much as any other state. The reason they are digging into theses systems it to prepare to persecute political enemies which are everywhere.
Well, all of the rest of the states should be joining them and should be filling several lawsuits against the entire trumpo wannabe oligarchy weirdo administration 🙄
Nice to see some states fighting back along with some government employees and people. Dems in congress and senate haven’t done shit! Oh wait, Chuck Schumer introduced a bill! 🙄
Too late. Elon's Incels have been harvesting data like a drunk at a free bar. They've probably got info worth Billions if not Trillions on Joe Citizen. Your privacy is fucked. Your info is already all over the dark web.
Losing battle and waste of resources. The executive branch is well within its constitutional authority to audit any federal spending. That said there are many other more important battles to fight ✊🏼
But wait a minute! Only congress can create departments in the federal government. Congress did not create DOGE. Therefore, its very existence is illegal. Why are they not challenging that?
It reminds me of Julien Assange and Edward Snowden who equally thought they were doing the right thing with accessing government data without authorization. It will be interesting to see how this is handled when Trump is in control of all government and the judiciary. Interesting times for the USA.
These AG’s need to bring charges against Marko Elez, the DOGE staffer that resigned. Was he even a legitimate federal government employee? Isn’t he fair game?
More are adding. I wrote Oregon's AT yesterday expressing my dissapointment they weren't on the initial list (11 at the time). Got an email back today. They have joined. They must have heard from a bunch of us. Nice gesture-but not sure what good it can do now. What if the bastards ignore the courts
I always thought that the US military took an oath to protect the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. If Musk isn't a threat, just what the fuck is he and how big a threat does it have to be before they act?
13 Democratic states suing to stop DOGE’s access to federal payment systems: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. The other 10? MA? NC? MI? OR? WI? IL? Hello? You know what to do folks….
I think it’s a really good look for Republican states to not care that some ketamine-addled unvetted billionaire and his teenage staff are accessing federal payment records.
State charges can’t be pardoned by the president. He can only pardon federal crimes. This is why he can pardon J6er’s because it happened on federal property. He can’t pardon J6er’s who created issues at their own capitols.
Well, we have 12 sane states out of 50! We need some more back up! more than 12 should be in on this if they give a damn about their constituents, but they’re not for them anymore they’re for joker felon 45 and President Hitler musk!
Same. Also, no response from our senators either. I was happy to see Peters was at least participating in the filibuster last night to delay the confirmation vote on the project 2025 architect Russel Vought for OMB.
@2kitties3.bsky.social I sent a question BC I'm in Ohio and my AG is Republican. Didn't get a answer but googled a lot of these states and their AGs are Democratic.
Joining James in the statement were the attorneys general of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island and Vermont.1 hour ago
That’s great but the damage is done…they likely unloaded spyware n will have remote access anyways…I mean the dudes allowed to take the info are hackers!
Joining James in the statement were the attorneys general of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Mine too. I emailed my state's(MD) AG on Saturday and hadn't seen any response yet and didn't know what to expect but I'm glad to see there's some motion.
Call them! I have been emailing my AG here in WA, telling him to sue. After reading this, he got a supremely aggressive phone call and email tonight. APPLY PRESSURE!
I was thinking the same thing but I just found her account on here and she is looking at her options. I’m guessing she’ll do something soon since she usually does.
Dana Nessel spoke to this on social media yesterday on fb. She will be taking action soon. My guess is either joining this lawsuit or pursuing criminal charges.
A few people posted which states. Basically, all the solid blue states and it is now 13. Ironically, the red states will be the hardest hit by Trump policies as they are incapable of taking care of their own citizens already and it will only get worse under Trump.
Agree and how typical, mostly Blue states, I guess the AG's in the red states don't GAF, what a surprise! 🙄 Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
I have little doubt that the U.S. is lost as a representative republic. We can either take it back and make sure that someone like the Orange Shitler can never hold power again, or let it fail spectacularly to the detriment of the entire world.
Its talk like that, that made the democrat party lose, not to mention they just had USAID pulled out from under them, so no more funding Politico with tax payer dollars
We had four years, Mr. Sicknick, and we failed miserably. Our government failed us and our voters failed us in November.
This year should have been very different with Trump in prison.
But the game was a long one. The convicted felon was a surprise twist but the billionaires have been working on this for decades. It’s why there is a federalist society. It’s why there is a prosperity gospel. It’s why Bush beat Gore.
The 1998 tobacco settlement, only a handful of states started that one. Maybe 6? Others joined later.
I think it's like the Asch conformity experiment. Nobody wants to be the state that speaks up. If that's the reason, the blue ones will join after a few news cycles.
Found it. Joining James in the statement were the attorneys general of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island and Vermont
Since Musk is reportedly a "Special Government Employee", he is subject to the ethics rules, correct ? He should have to sell his companies to avoid perceived and actual conflicts of interest, just like every other employee in a similar job.
Too little, too late. You can't unring the bell. There are only two things these thugs respond to: physical violence (not ideal) and financial pain. Work on the latter. Live more independently and find every possible way to shut down the flow of money to Trump, his friends, and especially his voters
This a joke post, right?? Not towards you but come on now... It's like asking someone whose house just burned to the ground if they'd like someone to call the fire department 🤣🤣 They have it already 🤣🤣
I've been contacting all my representatives, governor, attorney general, senators, congressman, etc in my red state with every breach of our laws and constitution. I sent their oath to remind them their job is to defend OUR constitution, not their party. I want history to show all my objections.
A maga on Facebook said I was making an ass out of myself for not respecting his business acumen (yes I am paraphrasing—acumen isn’t a maga word for many reasons)— I simply pointed out Musk never invented anything.
Those people need to understand that what Elon and his hackers are doing is illegal. And he's NOT very good in this field.
He bought Twitter for 44 $B, fired 80% of the staff, and now it's worth 78% LESS than what he paid for it.
Now this far right Nazi has access to US treasury computers
Yeah, I was heartbroken after discussing with my 88 year old mom who worked with special ed kids. This formerly kind woman doesn't care about kids in poorer states even though she watched my grandson thrive under his IEP. Fox news changed her.
***REPOST - CALL TO ACTION: Congress members are not allowed access to the ED building. GO HELP THEM PUSH THROUGH FORCEFULLY!!!! *************The headquarters of the United States Department of Education (ED) is located at 400 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. 20202.
I would have thought they would have filed a lawsuit on the first day that they got the keys to the treasury Department, not after they've gotten most of the information downloaded.
I checked, and was not surprised to see that Texas was not among them. Our thoroughly corrupt AG (Ken Paxton) will probably be filing amicus briefs in support of DOGE
If it's true that he's already downloaded our personal information onto his own server, what litigation will be filed to confiscate the server and lock his ass up with his minions?
Because the police belong to the executive branch and therefore answer to the head of the executive branch-the president. Checking the power of the executive branch is the job of the legislative and judicial branch.
Really? If so, this seems to be a HUGE loophole that must be closed. Otherwise, the "executive branch" can break the law at will. The wheels of justice move TOO slow to stop all the laws the executive branch is breaking.
Very true. We’ve been relying on norms and guidelines to keep the government flowing as expected because we assumed presidents would always want to preserve democracy and the rule of law. Turns out this wasn’t safe, but the time to fix it was before an autocrat took office
Problem is they’ve already done it. And they’ve already copied whatever information is on it that they want. So we’re kind of trying to pull back a ship that is already sale. But it’s certainly a good idea to get them out of there regardless.
Never throw up hands. I think the Dems need to think outside the box and stop listening to all the noise. Focus on the biggest issue and deal with it. They are all running around mad at different things and accomplishing very little. Thank God for federal judges at least.
There is the possibility that there is a trace of what they have done to the system. This is unacceptable to all Americans who use their Social Security Number for many important things and I wonder if they could use the SSN to change the votes later. It is just fishy what they have done.
Yes, and while efforts are focused on these things, they are already on the next step.
You have to invest in it, get ahead.
They are ASPD, you have all the tools available to do it.
The demage is still done. this never could happen in europe a private without any security check get access to sensitive data. Musk get honored by china and russia.
Keep Musk out of your government or it will happen there too. We have privacy laws, too (although not as strong as Europe) but they don’t care about any laws. None of these people should be there but no one is stopping them. Those that tried have been fired.
There are always two who are doing the damage. one who order it and one who do it. why the worker in ca following those stupid order let the water flow ? civil disobidience is needed now. you have a law even they get fired they can fight it make it public and they get helped.
They’re supposed to run background checks for access to sensitive data here, too. But these chucklefucks act like they’re above the law. Right now, they are.
This is all fine & well, but how about this. #NobodyElectedElon & his little college buddies need to be rounded up by the proper authorities, held in custody, then they need to appear before Congress to explain themselves & then they need to be punished for the coup they're attempting.
Lol so cute~ The damage is done. Game-Over happened as soon as they acquired full access to the networks. To recover netsec would mean having to throw out all of the physical equipment that's been accessed and brand new account names numbers etc, and even then there would always be doubt.
Musk operatives have already pushed extensive code changes to the Treasury Department payment system, which is responsible for making 95% of the federal government’s payments.
One of Musk’s staffers 25-year-old Marko Elez, has secured administrative privileges on the crucial system.
WIRED: "Treasury Dept & WH officials repeatedly denied techs in Elon Musk’s DOGE had the ability to rewrite code of the payment system through which the majority of federal spending flows.
Reporting shows that at the time these statements were made, a DOGE operative did in fact have write access."
No it's not. No one has verified exactly what the code changes have been so far to know how extensive they are/aren't (based on what I've read). Doing nothing...they can continue to mess with the system. Why do nothing? Marc Elias would also disagree with you. Watch one of his vids on the topic. ✌️
I just find it so surprising that Maga people aren't worried about their personal information being stolen by an unelected billionaire they are so ignorant.
Republicans are all in on authoritarian rule. It is going to be states that slow the shift to authoritarian rule. I wrote my state representatives to begin considering the federal government as hostile and review legislation that turns on cooperation with the federal government.
This isn't reversible. If Democrats shifted to authoritarian rule then they would lose support of their left wing. There were liberal and conservative Republicans in the 1960 and 70s. They were purged as the GOP moved right. Same with conservative Dems who wanted a more racist government.
No, the war is joined. At this point we move to reverse the GOP move towards authoritarian rule. Look at countries that went down this path like Portugal. Luckily we are not looking at Trump for the next 20 years. He is not going to live that long.

Sir, please consider joining against DOGE.
I've been posted how AGs are a source of defense.
We can't control much, but we can make our voices heard.

Good ole 2016, back again!!
This year should have been very different with Trump in prison.
All of it was the perfect storm to make nazism all the rage again.
I think it's like the Asch conformity experiment. Nobody wants to be the state that speaks up. If that's the reason, the blue ones will join after a few news cycles.
Congress is letting them get away with it
Hopefully many more will be inspired to do the same

If these dudes are breaking the law, why aren't they being arrested?
Why haven't you people hit the streets yet? Fair dinkum, massive strikes, never ending street occupying, business busting protests are your only hope.
Please smoke these self-righteous young schmucks!
I can’t even pretend to guess what they are planning.
