I left very lucrative jobs and live now basically barely paycheck to paycheck because morally and spiritually as a Buddhist I couldn’t do what those jobs asked of me (sales)- now I make much less but I just make money helping people. And I can live with that.
There is privilege in being able to do that though. Your life is not the measuring stick for all others. People have reasons and economic dependency is huge. I know plenty of people who would lose everything including their cars and homes.
I wouldn't presume to tell anybody else what they should do. They gotta eat, and they gotta support their families. And looking for a new job is likely going to get a lot harder.

I've literally resigned from great paying jobs with benefits because the culture was not compatible with my personal beliefs. I'm not going to sell my soul for a paycheck. Had a friend went thru their interview process for a mid-level job. It took weeks, with virtual interviews & tests lasting hours with no bio breaks, b4 they told her the salary & expected weekly hours (60+). they ended one mtg & gave 30m notice for one with Singapore operations
That's a big red flag to me. They get them young and burn them out. No way if ever give an employer 60+ hours weekly for years. You think that's a great weekly salary for 40 hours- but per hour, you're screwed
My daughter just got her first job out of college. I impress on all of my kids that they are interviewing the company too and culture/fit are very important factors. I advised her to hold out for the right position. She ended up at a great company with a wonderful culture.
