THE BOUNDARIES WE CROSS, at least so far, is pretty dumb, with shallow characters and plot twists I can see coming a mile away. But it's also a fast read, and I'll be done with it by tomorrow night at the latest, so I'll keep going and see if it surprises me at some point.

I’ve read enough slow books of late (not necessarily the books’ fault; I’ve been getting used to new meds) that burning through one, even if I’m not loving it, is fun.

Plus, reading something that’s not working is an education in “How would I fix that?”

I've read EVERYTHING that Brad Parks has written and Boundaries We Cross was, IMO, his greatest yet. Like a lot of readers, I'm always trying to figure out the ending. Not this time.

Exactly. BTW, Brad Parks put me in his book, "Say Nothing." And not just a name, but a character for about 120 pages. The character is described exactly like me. I didn't know that he did it until I attended a book sighting in Jacksonville, Florida. That was kinda cool.

Well Joe is my pooch and best friend although at 16 1/2 years old he doesn't have much time left. He has arthritis and degenerative myelopathy in his lower spine. I just hope that he can hang on for another 18 months or so. The hardest thing is to have a pet put down. I'm not ready yet.
