To be fair, she also says that this is more in accordance with the original Imagineering concept (whatever that means) and the article says that the bride was technically problematic.
I do think that the hatchet bride was tonally dissonant. Her comments about sensitivity do seem odd, though.

I totally agree. This is a LOT better. It’s just a shame she has to blame sensitivity, suggesting that’s still a leading thought at WDI.

There's a real complicated discussion with Disney vis-a-vis "cultural sensitivity" these days. They seem to think they can thread the needle and just not take sides, but those decisions are boxing them in even more.

Oooh, this is great. I’ll check it out. I feel in such a weird space as a progressive because of course the Jungle Cruise needed changed, and of course Splash Mountain was a smart decision. But I just know this will be the excuse to add Moana to the Tiki Room and remove Indy’s story. 😞

I am 100% in the same boat. I think "scary" is important and useful. It's ok to show bad guys doing bad things. Racism as comedy is, however, not ok.
Let's face it, even Walt was unsure about selling slave wives. But the park's modern solution seemed so hamfisted.

I really appreciate her candidness. I wish her team was allowed to have new ideas rather than simply honoring the past, but I feel they did a great job of the mandates (remove the axe, make an extended queue and store) while infusing the original spirit, all with a kneecaping budget.

I don’t disagree that there are ways to refine and strengthen it in pleasant, authentic ways, but today’s Disney Parks wouldn’t do that. We’d be singing “How Far I’ll Go,” “Hawaiian Roller Coaster,” and an island-inspired rendition of “Try Everything.”

I hate to be one of those "Don't change anything about the parks!!" people, I think this new Bride will be a complete plus vs. Constance, but I am very worried at the mention of them still wanting to remove the body in the stretch rooms.

It's what interested me in the Mansion when I was very young, and I don't know how they'd change the scene and be able to keep "Of course, there's always my way!" intact.
