Call out the companies who aren't agreeing to the terms we need to keep human actors working 5-10 years from now! Call out the companies who make tons of money but aren't giving us enforceable AI protections on union contracts! They're the ones keeping this strike going on as long as it is!
I'm not.....*anti*-calling people out exactly, but it has the potential to backfire. See the recent controversy over the recent Genshin Impact re-cast as an example.
Not saying I *wouldn't* publicly call these actors out, but it'd take a bit more for me to do so by name.
from what I've seen: they want the company [MiHoYo] that hired the voiceover studio to have a universal Anti-AI Voice rule in place. Even if one of the voiceover studios already has one (Sound Candence), it's not enough for them.
The studio doesn't have the rights to the recording anyway so that part of those contracts is probably included in all their contracts. Meanwhile mihoyo has an in house AI voice program.
And utilizing chinese personal data laws that protect voice recordings from being mimicked without comsent would require Voice Actors to go to China to litigate their case. That last bit is why voice actors wabt those in their contracts under US jurisdiction.
(That said, I'm not at all defending the voice actors referenced in the original post...this post is on point, I won't support ending the strike until a proper deal is made. I know who these actors are, it'd just take a bit more improper behavior on their part for me to publicly name them.)
Yes, I was just thinking about this! The risks that those who were striking take, especially if the rest of us don’t pay attention and end up rewarding the scabs!

and yet: I get downvoted for saying that.
