The Trick is, he describes in the simplest words what he sees in the images of the film. Because the film is made for children. I've grown up with these films here in Germany. I still like the voice, which is a great quality.
The bottle is simply placed over the end of a fruiting pear tree branch, sometimes over a BLOOMING branch and the whole life of the fruit (~125 days) begins & ends inside.
To protect the pear from sun, a burlap covering is sometimes added.
Voilà! Pear in a bottle of brandy, a la prisonnière.
The brandy is 40% ABV, which may also create a barrier of safety.
Destroys cell membranes,

This means it prevents spoilage and stops fermentation or decay.
