Good VFX and CGI are wonderful things, but I love how CREATIVE film-makers had to be in the creation of low-tech film miracles like this Buster Keaton visual trick.

There's a fascinating bit near the 4:30 mark where they talk about some really basic camera tricks: double exposure and matting to produce some mind-bending effects.
