Craft fairs and farmers’ markets are great places to look for soap. Usually minimally packaged. You can talk to the vendors about their ingredients, and support small businesses.

Also you can make your own liquid doap. Grate or blitz the soap, add boiling water and a little bi-carb. Exact quantities depend in the soap. Experiment!

I also make my own soap flakes from grated Marseille soap then add a tsp bicarb when I put it in the drum of the machine.

Some already recycled paper stuck in place with gum arabic is perfect.
Words to the wise I’m sure but the amount of actual soap in solid soap vs liquid is huge. Liquid soaps are mostly water and need a plastic bottle. Solid soap just needs a sheet of paper.

I actually make the base of my laundry detergent DIY by grating bars of soap. I can be sure there are no ingredients I am allergic to as well as create divine essential oil scents. Also nice to know I'm not putting harmful chemicals down the drain. Saves a ton on plastic use and easy to do.

I only use liquid soap when staying away, in a B&B or hotel, and even then I usually take a bar of soap with me.
