I want to be clear upfront that I don’t think anyone should have been kicked out. That said, you’ve mentioned free speech in other tweets/skeets.

People are welcome to voice and use their free speech, but there are still consequences to actions.

If there is a rule that says you cannot make derogatory statements against anyone, and you make derogatory statements towards someone, you are well within your right to do so, but you also have to suffer the consequences of those choices.

I think we often forget how free speech works.

I agree that there should be consequences for some speech.. Hate, incendiary, reckless, intentionally misleading, etc.

I do not believe there should be consequences for speech that those in power simply disagree with.

That appears to be the issue here, as best as I can tell.

I think what it boils down to is that there is a policy in place that was never enforced. Now those in power, as you point out, are cherry picking enforcement.

It is the NBA Code of conduct which apparently does not allow for any clothing, garments or signs displaying explicit language, profanity, or derogatory characterization towards any person(s).

It is really amazing, though probably not surprising, how every choice they've made since the trade has been one to make things worse.
