Don't worry. My family will be at the RFK confinement camp w you. Harvesting, breaking rocks, building houses, as well running in circles at top speed, then immediately stopping to have a conversation about the different types of stones, jumping to the always air moves from an area of high pressure.

You made it by force of will and you’ve got plenty of time to maximize your new tools. Luckily, it’s way more understood now and comes with less stigma and more support. I got diagnosed at 5 and it was almost a scarlet letter.

I’m 60 and just diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. When I look back and see all the qualifications I didn’t get. The courses I started and didn’t finish. The ones I did finish but could have done better. So much gone to waste.

I am from a family of high functioning left brained people. I never understood why I couldn't emulate their success or ability. Clearly, they were just smarter than I was. I got some pretty seriously wrong self-assessment. Once I gained true clarity, I wept. I have lost so much, and for no reason.

I smoked every day for 20 years, now I understand it was to quieten the anxiety. Didn't help me to get anything done (ymmv). Take care, and be gentle.

Mind boggling! I know my ADHD symptoms wouldn't have vanished but I KNOW they wouldn't be what they are now. Every aspect of our lives would've benefited from meds. RIP, our functional selves. Now the world gets the addled version of me that's somehow both super competent but inept simultaneously.
