The Christmas truce lasted 4 days and was located in trenches in Ploegsteert Belgium. On Christmas Eve,both sides could hear the men opposite singing traditional carols as the trenches were close. The soldiers played football but also exchanged Christmas treats, cigarettes, drinks and newspapers.
