I'm gonna invent a new level of anger if Kusuriya S2 got screwed by the fast turnaround, tho. They'd moved on when it was announced, but a sizable part of the team had another project in the middle, and there's been quite the series direction shuffling for the sequel. 2 consecutive cours again, too
Isnt 2 consecutive cours for a second season already a miracle in the current state of the animation industry?
Not that the first season's success didnt warant it but still.
Not a miracle but definitely an uphill climb! Especially in comparison to the first season which, while it didn't have the amplest schedule ever seen, was still respectable enough that they could plan & then revise already finished footage quite a lot
S2 was always planned though, and sequels tend to take less extensive pre-production since a lot of materials can be reused. Not sure about how that will affect Kusuriya though; on the one hand, they prepared an outrageous amount of materials, on the other hand... maybe they'd like to do it again
Makes sense, specially so when theyre as organized as you say.
I guess whenever I see a generous S2 nowadays I reflexively think of how Gwitch was handled despite its success.
Granted that was an original and its own can of worms but still.
Oh no, new fear unlocked. Surprised that part of the staff had another project in the middle when it felt like the sequel was decided on early on (not planned from the start?)
It wasn't the core staff (for the most part), but OLM is a busy place. About half the episodes in that Parry show were directed by Kusuriya regulars, including some very active ones and the new assistant series director
