I truly believe we need to create more social consequences for people who do shit to fuck with the safety of others, from running stop signs to not vaxxing your kids. They need to be told they're fucking assholes often.

the ex-marine was working in bio labs and this was during the pre-covid measles outbreak in washington, so he had seen what measles does up close. it wasn’t a game or a hypothetical to him, and it was to the dudes spouting very stupid anti-vax talking points

one of my favorite memories from COVID was my mom insisting on eating out and not masking, the outdoors hostess asking her to at least wear one for the walk to the booth, my mom replying with "I have a breathing problem" and the hostess deadpan replying "no you don't."
