In 30 days you can make a request on r/redditrequest to take over the mod position if it did actually get banned for not being moderated.

That way can get it back up and archive it, or just actually mod it.

The wave of subreddit bans for being “unmoderated” seems like a SNAFU on reddit admins’ part. Every 3-6 months they make this kind of mistake

I'm pretty sure it happens automatically if none of the accounts set as a moderator have logged in (maybe also looked at the mod queue) for a few months.

I've seen it happen to many subs. There's a request subreddit where you can ask admins to add you as a mod to bring them back.
