Hi, Shawn..."Junko", eh?...never heard of. SO MANY bird varieties...I admire them SO MUCH...such little survivors..in SPITE of US, eh?...admit I'm not much of a pigeon fan...call them "pigs" bc of their aggressive behavior. When THEY show up? NOBODY ELSE gets ANYthing! Low to the ground, quick. tbc

2/ 1 of my very faves are what I call "Texas doves"...not sure what their name is...so beautiful...love their shape AND their behavior...SHY...WILD...will NOT come anywhere CLOSE to ppl, unlike pigs, uh- pigeons. Have to be careful to NOT feed them whole corn- kills them. Here's 2 of my fave photos:

3/ 1 photo shows 1 sitting on the Texas-shaped feeder I put sunflower seeds in daily...they're JUST SMALL enough to sit on the flat parts. Pigs are too big. I'll confess I keep more hanging bc of them & "the little guys", sparrows mostly, a few finches. They can use another feeder I put scratch in.

4/ Birds' behavior is interesting to me...they ALL have "leaders" they follow...the leader takes OFF? they ALL take off...doves tend to show up earlier AND later than the pigs do, so I intentionally DON'T scatter my usual amt of cracked corn & sunflower seeds on the back drive until almost dark.

5/ Last 1...sry...I was putting some "whole corn", deer corn it's called here bc the deer hunters buy it to put out as bait...& started seeing dead doves. I guess it either chokes them or swells inside & kills them, so...converted to cracked corn. Buy milo, too, a fine seed, for the little guys.

6/ I lied...the wife gives me "that look" when I bring home receipts from Tractor Supply ( I know...not DEI friendly now- too bad. Have THE BEST QUALITY seeds, good pricing, friendly staff. F it) I spend a RIDIC amt of $$ on seed monthly. W/ warm weather put out less. Mostly early AM. THERE. (O_O)

Great photo! Love juncos - we call them "poofy pants" because they fluff up all their feathers when it's cold 😂
